CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Grace Clark,
Valerie Wraith and
Jordan LaCour of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team earned first-team All-America honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the organization announced this week.
In addition to the three first-teamers, seniors
Natalie Stearns,
Isabel Del Villar and
Caitlin Muñoz earned honorable mention distinction.
The six honorees for CMS helped the Athenas win their first SCIAC Championship since 2006, when they defeated Pomona-Pitzer in the championship game. CMS had not a win in the Sixth Street Rivalry since 2011, and did it twice this year, with the first one coming at the UC San Diego Triton Invitaitonal.
Clark had 99 points on the year, with 69 goals and 30 assists to rank first on the Athenas. Wraith was second in goals with 56, while LaCour had 44 goals from her center position.
Muñoz led the Athenas in assists with 53, and ranked second with 82 points. Del Villar had 46 goals and 26 assists, and Stearns had a 9.07 goals against average in net.
CMS finished the year with a 17-10 overall record, and reached the USA Water Polo Division III National Championship game for the third straight season.
