SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
Emmett Stralka finished with a 10.83 in the 100 meters, moving into a tie for ninth place in CMS history with Derek Elmore (1988), while
Eric Filson took first place in the long jump (21'11.75") to highlight the performance of the CMS men's track and field team on Saturday at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational.
Stralka was 14th at the event and passed his previous best of 10.97 set earlier this year.
Aiden Owens also ran 11 seconds flat and Evan Seigel had an 11.19, while Owens was 12th in the 200 with a 22.07.
Jaden Rattay had a strong showing in the 400 meters with a 48.53, placing third at the Aztec Invitational, and putting him just .07 away from moving into the top 10.
Colin Scanlon came in fourth in the 400 hurdles with a 53.50, and
Joshua Martinez was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 14.96.
Filson's long jump of 6.70 meters was a new personal best and ranked him first in the meet by an inch and half over Marcus Harris of UC San Diego. The CMS 4x400 relay team also earned a first-place finish in a head-to-head with UC San Diego, as
Max Even, Owens, Rattay and Scanlon clocked a 3:15.32 to win by .85.
Kaden Cassidy had a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 178'11" to highlight the performance of the CMS throwers.
The Stags will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Redlands to compete in the second SCIAC Quad Cup.
