REDLANDS, Calif. -
Kaden Cassidy moved up from ninth to fourth in CMS history in the hammer throw by adding 11 feet, one inch to his personal record with a throw of 192'11" to highlight a first-place finish of the performance of the CMS men's track and field team at the second SCIAC Quad Cup, hosted by Redlands on Saturday.
CMS finished with 206.50 points ahead of Redlands (132), Chapman (129.50) and Pomona-Pitzer (112) in points at the meet, the second of two SCIAC Cups during the regular season. The Stags also won the first one, held at CMS, back on March 1.
Cassidy led a 1-2-3 finish with
Kavin Prasanna second (180'8") and
Jason Bowman third (168'8"). Cassidy and Bowman came into the day tie for ninth in CMS history with a top throw of 181'10".
George Kruger also added four feet to his PR in the javelin with a throw of 194'6" to move up from eighth into sixth at CMS.
On the track,
Emmett Stralka came in first in the 100 meters with a 10.77, by just one-hundredth of a second, and moved up a spot into eighth all-time with the Stags.
Ellis DelVecchio was the winner in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.40.
Joshua Martinez was the winner in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds.
Jonas Rickert came in first in the 1500 meters at 3:57.45.
Jonathan Holcombe came in first in the long jump at 22'3.75", with
Eric Filson second.
The Stags capped off the track events with a win in the 4x400 relay, as
Jaden Rattay, DelVecchio,
Max Even and
Colin Scanlon finished in 3:17.78.
In addition to the SCIAC Quad Cup,
Jonas Knudson also competed in the decathlon this weekend at San Diego State and finished with 4659 points, earning 731 in the pole vault with a clearance of 14'5.25" and having the top score in the javelin of the four competitors with a throw of 152'4" (46.44 meters).
CMS will be back in action next weekend when it travels to compete in the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.
