CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Kaden Cassidy of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team earned third-team Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today.
The Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes who combine athletic success with high academic achievement. Cassidy was joined on the CSC Academic All-District team by
Colin Scanlon,
Adam Sage,
Joshua Martinez and
Leo Sundstrom.
Cassidy came in second place at the NCAA Division III Championships in the hammer throw after winning the SCIAC title in the event. He broke the CMS record in the hammer at the ASU Franson Last Chance Meet in the build-up to the NCAA Championships, and then extended it at nationals with a throw of 210'0", finishing second and recording the 16th best mark in NCAA Division III history.
In the classroom, Cassidy carries over a 3.8 GPA at Claremont McKenna as a dual major in economics-engineering and physics.
Scanlon also finished as an NCAA runner-up in the 400 hurdles for the Stags, while winning a SCIAC title and setting a CMS record. Sage was the SCIAC Champion and Athlete of the Year in cross country, while Martinez (100 hurdles) and Sundstrom (pole vault) were All-SCIAC performers.
CMS won the SCIAC Men's Track and Field title for the fifth year in a row (2019, and four straight post-COVID from 2022-25).
