CLAREMONT, Calif. - Four members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar distinction from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced today.
Senior
Yuefeng (Michael) Ma capped off his career with All-America Scholar honors, and was joined by junior
Jack Rende, and sophomores
Yiqi (Andy) Sun and
Jamison Tan.
The Cobalt Golf Award is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors, and requires participating in at least 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, while meeting minimum requirements for grade point average and stroke average.
Ma, Rende, Sun and Tan were all part of the five-player contingent that participated in the SCIAC Championship and NCAA Division III Championship, along with first-year
Arnold He (who was ineligible for the Cobalt Golf Award). They helped the Stags to the SCIAC title with a dramatic final round comeback to earn a bid to the NCAAs, where Ma went on to finish 14th on the individual leaderboard at nationals.
Ma also earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Year Award for the third time, while Tan was a first-team All-SCIAC selection, and Sun earned a spot on the second team.
