SANTA ANITA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team came into Saturday's final round of the SCIAC Championships tied for first with Pomona-Pitzer, but shot -16 as a team to run away with the title at the Santa Anita Golf Course. 

Samson Li, Sebi Aliaga, Arnold He and Logan Mills all shot -4 on the day (67) to give CMS its -16 score. Jamison Tan actually shot -2 on the day as well, but the Stags shot so well as a team that a 69 was discarded in the top four-of-five scoring format.  

CMS ended the tournament -23 for the three rounds, after coming into the day deadlocked with Pomona-Pitzer at -7. The Sagehens shot +4 as a team, to end up 20 shots back at -3, while Occidental was a distant third at +12. 

Li ended up in second place on the individual leaderboard at -8, with three straight rounds in the red, including his -4 on Saturday. Li had no bogeys on the day, earning birdies on No. 9, No. 10, No. 13 and No. 15. 

Aliaga took the turn with an eagle on the ninth, and finished his round with a birdie on the 18th, ending up in third place overall at -7. 

Arnold He moved up four spots with his -4 on Saturday, which included two straight birdies on No. 4 and No. 5, and two more in a row on No .12 and No. 13.

Mills joined Li in recording a bogey free-round, starting out with a birdie on No. 1, taking the turn with another on No. 9, and adding two straight birdies on No. 13 and No 14 on the back nine. Tan had birdies on No. 1, No. 9, No. 14 and No. 16. 

CMS will earn the SCIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held next month in Florida.
