Xenia Villagomez Promoted to Head Assistant Volleyball Coach for Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Xenia Villagomez, who spent the 2025 season as a part-time assistant with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team, has been promoted to a full-time role as the program's head assistant in 2026, while serving a dual role in sport operations.

Villagomez joined the Athenas last year and helped CMS to a SCIAC Championship with a five-set win over No. 1-ranked La Verne in the final. She graduated from SCIAC rival Whittier with a degree in kinesiology and nutritional science and a minor in biology. She was a three-year captain of the volleyball team, and earned second-team All-SCIAC distinction for the Poets.

In addition to playing volleyball, she also served as an athletic administration and coaching intern at Whittier, as well as a Professional Association of Athlete Development Specialists (PAADS) intern.

During her playing days, Villagomez also picked up seven years of various coaching experience at Santiago High School and with the Bravo Volleyball Club, working with youth athletes from ages 10-18 (both boys and girls). She was also a tutor and student-athlete peer mentor at Whittier.

Villagomez will serve as the CMS Volleyball recruiting coordinator as the head assistant, and will fill her role in sport operations in the winter and spring seasons.
