CLAREMONT, Calif. - Carmel Randolph of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Sept. 20, the conference office announced today. 

Randolph, a regular starter at outside back during her four-year career, scored her first collegiate goal on a 30-yard blast to help CMS come away with a 1-1 tie with Cal Lutheran on Saturday. Her goal came midway through the first half, when she gathered in a short through ball unmarked in the middle of the field, took a dribble, and let fly with a long-range shot that settled into the upper-right corner.

Randolph was also part of a defense that held Whittier without a single shot on target in a 2-0 win on Wednesday. The Poets managed just three shots overall over 90 minutes, none of which were on frame. 

CMS will be back in action when it travels across Sixth Street to play Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest.
