CLAREMONT, Calif. – Hayden Beauchemin finished a career-best second as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team earned a runner-up finish in the SCIAC Championships on Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country course. 

Beauchemin finished with a time of 24:50.7 to earn second place, holding off Stian Asper of Redlands in 24:52.1. Jack Stein of Pomona-Pitzer earned the individual title in 24:33.5.

Pomona-Pitzer earned the team title with 29 points, while CMS was second in 48 and La Verne came in third with 100.

CMS ended with seven All-SCIAC honorees for finishing in the top 20. Jerry Xu (25:30.7) and Brennan Tobin (25:38.3) earned first-team all-league honors with top-10 finishes in eighth and ninth, respectively. Jacob Pippel, Hale Behan and Jonas Rickert finished in sequence from 14th-16th and Arnav Shetty was 18th to take second-team All-SCIAC distinction.

Pierce Clark (23rd) and Rowan Haywood-O'Neill (30th) were each in the top 30, while Charlie Routledge was 32nd, Matthew Jabro was 42nd, Pablo Meyers was 47th and Daniel Voyles was 48th to finish in the top 50.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it returns to the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country course for the NCAA Division III Regionals on Nov. 15.
